NoVA Assalto is organized and run by Steven Reich and Kara Reich. Our area of study is the martial art described in the treatises of the 16th century Bolognese masters Antonio Manciolino, Achille Marozzo, Giovanni Dall'Agocchie, and The Anonimo Bolognese (the manuscripts of Ravenna). In addition to the primary weapons of Sword-Alone and Sword and Buckler, we also study the Spadone ("spada da due mani"), the various Polearms (e.g. Pollaxe, Halberd, Partisan, etc.), Marozzo's unarmed defenses against dagger, and some of the less common weapon combinations (e.g. Sword and Rotella, Sword and Dagger, Sword and Cape, and Two Swords).
